Pedals Spare Parts FAQ
What spare parts are available for pedals?
High-quality BMX pedals are built so that almost everything can be replaced.- Pedal Bodies
- The platform itself. Especially with plastic pedals, the body is a wear part. If your axle and bearings are still good, you can often just replace the body – saving money.
- Pins
- The small screws that provide grip. On metal pedals, they screw into the body; on plastic pedals, they are often a nut/bolt combo.
- Axles
- The steel shaft inside. It bends on hard landings or grinds.
- Bearings & Bushings
- Ensure smooth rotation. Often a combo of bushing (inner) and ball bearing (outer).
The most important law of pedal axles
When buying a replacement axle, you must know for which side:- Right Pedal (R): Standard right-hand thread (clockwise to tighten).
- Left Pedal (L): Left-hand thread (counter-clockwise to tighten).
Changing Pins & Bodies: Tips
- Metal Pedals: Use thread locker (Loctite) so the new pins don't loosen immediately.
- Body Swap: When replacing the pedal body, clean the old axle thoroughly and regrease it before inserting it into the new body.
